without hesitation, i declare that this is the most beautiful place i’ve visited in the philippines.
these sketches do not do this island justice.
i got so excited updating the blog, i forgot to post about my trip to spain! bleh.
sadly, i was only able to make a few sketches, but i have the best excuse – i was too busy having fun with a friend from america who i had not seen in years!
most of these were done during my downtime. still learning urban sketching. the most difficult part was mentally psyching myself to actually whip out my sketchbook. hopefully, there will be another chance to visit this amazing country and not be afraid anymore.
earlier this month, i visited georgetown in penang, malaysia. it is a UNESCO world heritage site for “having a unique architectural and cultural townscape without parallel anywhere in East and Southeast Asia” (thanks wikipedia!). and true enough, the place is surrounded by art – full of murals, iron sculptures, galleries and anything and everything quaint.
exploring the town with a rented bike and a free map, i discovered these gems:
did some temple drawing in siem reap, cambodia:
joined some urban sketchers one saturday morning in the neighbourhood weekend market:
did some fast sketches while walking around the old town in phuket, thailand:
and joined a printmaking (intaglio) workshop:
an altogether fun, art-filled month… a birthday month well-spent!
